Born August 7, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Kathryn Jean (Douglas) Wiseman was the daughter of Williard and Ruth (Kerker) Douglas. She grew up and received her education in Mount Pleasant, graduating from high school in 1963. Following graduation, Kathy moved to Early, Iowa, and worked as a bank teller in Storm Lake for several years. She then took time off to start and raise a family before eventually accepting employment at Farmers Coop, where she served as bookkeeper for 35 years, retiring in January of 2008. She continued working seasonally for Farmers Coop in her retirement and also worked part-time at Spring Lake Golf Course near Odebolt, Iowa.

On April 18, 1966, Kathy was united in marriage to Roy Wiseman in Early, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children, Dave, Dawn, Doug, and DeLynn.

Kathy was a beautiful person, so full of love and commitment to everything that she did and everyone that she came into contact with, even if it meant sacrificing her own needs. She unselfishly fought a courageous battle with cancer, never wanting to lean on others. She was an extremely active lady with many hobbies, including crocheting, painting sweatshirts, golfing, cooking, picking out recipes with her daughters over coffee, shopping, and bird watching. She was never idle and always had her hands busy with multiple projects. Her annual holiday open house and craft show was an event that she took pride in and looked forward to with much delight. Kathy took extreme pleasure in time spent with her grandchildren, which ultimately gave her the focus to continue fighting and the will to continue the journey.

Survivors include four children and 11 grandchildren, Dave Wiseman of Hills and son Lane, Dawn (Jeff) Mentzer of Early and their children Devin, Jack, Ross, and Emma, Doug (Ellen) Wiseman of Story City and their children Anne, Nora, Alec, and Claire, DeLynn (Scott) Frantz of Early and their children Johnathan and Patrick. Also surviving are her mother, Ruth Douglas; sister, Sherrie Pfeiffer; brother, Jack Douglas; her mother-in-law, Collette Wiseman; as well as other extended family members and a host of friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her father, Willard; and her father-in-law, Vern Wiseman.
