Sac City Council decides to offer Sac Aquatic Center Manager position to family member of city clerk without discussion
SAC CITY, IOWA – FEBRUARY 14, 2011
The City of Sac City has been on the lookout for a new manager for the Sac Aquatic Center.
According to Sac City Administrator Adam Ledford, there were a handful of people who applied for the Sac Aquatic Center manager position for the 2011 season. Mr ledford did not specify the exact number of applicants at the February 14, 2011 meeting.
According to Ledford, all applicants were interviewed, and the deliberations on the pros and cons of each applicant were made by a body of persons outside of the council whom he did not name during the public review of the proceedings.
Mr. Ledford did not indicate the reason for keeping this information from the public.
Mr. Ledford Indicated that this unnamed body choose Ross Tellinghuisen, son of the Sac City Clerk to fill the position.
Mr. Ledford did not provide one single reason for this choice...
Without discussion or question, Councilperson Nick Frohardt made the motion to offer the contract to Ross Tellinghuisen. The motion was seconded by Gary Hansen. mayor Powell stopped the vote to make absolutely sure that no one wanted to discuss anything at all before proceeding to vote. The motion was approved unanimously by the three Sac City Council people who bothered to show up.
(Gary Hansen, Bill Brenny, and Nick Frohardt.)
The council did not release to the public the figure that they are offering Mr. Tellinghuisen. It was not indicated at the February 14, 2011 Sac City Council meeting if this is because they don’t want the public to be aware of that amount, or if they think the public simply doesn’t deserve to know.
It seems that it really IS about who you know with this group.
