Richard Miller, age 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and formally of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in Marshalltown.
Richard B. Miller was born July 24, 1937 in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Andrew P. and Teresa J. (Kanne) Miller.

Growing up, he was baptized and confirmed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. Richard also attended grade school at the Sacred Heart Catholic School and later graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake in 1956.

On February 11, 1977, Richard was united in marriage to Janet Sinns at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Sarah.

Richard served in the United States Army during Peace Time until he was honorably discharged.

Richard worked as a truck driver and spent time working for his brother, Art, at Miller Farm Drainage. He also worked at Woodshavings in Aurelia, Iowa. After several years of hard work Richard retired in 2000. For the past four years, Richard has lived at the Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Richard enjoyed his time spent on the family farm south of town and stock car racing. He was well liked and found great joy in going on different outings and being active. Richard loved his family and will be missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include daughter, Sarah Harms (special friend, Jeremy Nelson) of Wall Lake, Iowa; grandson’s, Jaidon and Cameron; brother, Art (Liz) Miller of Alta, Iowa; sisters, Irma (Tom) Bengford of Garden Grove, California; Monica (Dick) Rice of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Storm Lake, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Ruth; brother, Melvin; and infant brother and sister, Rita and William.
