Visitation: Thursday, 4-8:00 p.m. November 18, 2010 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, 10:30 a.m., November 19, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa.
Vigil Service: Thursday, 7:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary November 18, 2010 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.
Interment: Saturday, 11:00 a.m. November 20, 2010 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Marie Rose Pollien, age 89, of Odebolt, Iowa, formerly of Early, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010, at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt.

Marie was born on March 16, 1921 at Odebolt the daughter of John and Nettie (Albers) Bengford. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Martin’s and graduated from school in Odebolt in 1939. On July 26, 1939, Marie was united in marriage to Pernell A. Snyder at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Odebolt. Three children were born to this union, Richard, Rose and Thomas. Living in Sac County, Marie was a busy homemaker, providing a loving home for her husband and children. She also worked at Boyer Valley candling eggs. In 1956 they moved to Cedar Rapids and Marie went to work for Square D in 1959, retiring in 1975. Pernell passed away in August of 1971.

On January 25, 1975, Marie married Robert “Bob” Pollien at St. Pius Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Following her marriage they moved to St. Charles, MO, and after Bob’s retirement, they moved to Early to live. Bob passed away in August of 1991. Marie entered the Odebolt Care Center in 2001 after suffering a stroke. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.

Those thankful for sharing her life include her children: Richard Snyder of Early; Rose M. (John) Pollpeter of Nauvoo, IL; and Thomas J. (Kathy) Snyder of Early; grandchildren: Donna Snyder of Atlantic, IA, Amy Snyder of Winter Park, FL, Michael Snyder of Everett, WA, Scott Snyder of Bothell, WA, Ryan (Jennifer) Snyder of Kenmore, WA, Laurie (Jean Paul) Eskenazi of Naperville, IL, John L. Pollpeter of Ocoee, FL, Chad (Heidi) Pollpeter of Ocoee, FL, Anne (Chad) Desy of Geneva, IL, Brad (Connie) Snyder of Holstein, IA, Julie (Lucas) Carlson of North Liberty, IA, and Michelle (Nathan) Hines of Cedar Rapids, IA., 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother Raymond Bengford of Deloit, IA; sisters: Eileen (Lou) Cass of Dow City, IA and Rita (Marvin) Tiefenthaler of Early; sister-in-law Dorothy Bengford of Sioux City; brother-in-law Wes Bernhardt of Odebolt; and many extended relatives.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents John and Nettie Bengford; husbands Pernell A. Snyder and Bob Pollien; brothers Leo, Ed, Joe, and Lawrence Bengford; and sister Allie Bernhardt.
