Lorence “Larry” Allen Ort, age 56, of Sac City, IA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. He was born on July 9, 1954 at Sac City, the son of Kenneth and Ella (Pangle) Ort. Larry attended school at Nemaha and Crestland (Nemaha-Crestland) through the 11th grade. He then moved to Spokane, WA where he lived with an Aunt and Uncle. He graduated from Joel E. Ferris High School in Spokane. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1972-1978 in Company A, 793D, as part of the Military Police in Germany and California, earning the rank of Sp4. In 1975 he was married and had two children, Kimberly and Scott. They were later divorced. In 1990 he was married to Judy Mick in Great Falls, MT. They divorced in 2002.

Larry worked for Lumber Yard Supply from 1978-1985 in Great Falls, then for Diamond Parking. In 1989 he moved to Highwood, MT to work as a ranch hand until 1999, when he was hurt on the job. He went to work in Wenatchee, WA and worked for a cherry orchard through 2002. When he could no longer work, he moved to Iowa.

He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting, camping and riding horses. Some of the hunting trips he took included going to Alaska to hunt Alaskan brown bears, hunting Caribou in Newfoundland and Canada and hunting Tahr and Porcupines in New Zealand. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Ort of Billings, MT; son Scott Ort of Fort Benton, MT; three grandchildren; ex-wife Judy Mick of Great Falls, MT; sister Rosey (Fred) Bruns of Sac City; two brothers: Virgil Ort of Otho, IA and Paul (Brenda) Ort of Des Moines, IA; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ella Ort and grandparents, Leslie and Della Pangle and Homer and Ethel Ort.
