Lillian Koster Raine, age 89, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa. Lillian Elizabeth Meyer was born on September 21, 1920 at Maple River, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (Tiefenthaler) Meyer. She spent her early years in Maple River and graduated from St. Francis School in Maple River, in 1936 she moved with her family to Breda.
Lillian was united in marriage to Herbert Koster on November 10, 1942. Two children were born to this union, Gary and Diane. Herbert passed away May 12, 1960. She married Charles Raine in July of 1968 and moved to Lake View, Iowa. He died December 13, 2003. In 2004 Lillian moved to the Carroll Health Center.
She was active in the Women’s American Legion and served on several committees at church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and playing Bingo.
Survivors include her son Gary Koster and wife Jayne of Henderson, NV; daughter Diane Summerfield and husband Carl of Corsicana, TX; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Herbert Koster and Charles Raine; her sisters Mildred Meyer and Angeline Hermsen; and brother Arnold Meyer.
