Joint East Sac County School Boards continuing to deny Rabiner Ranch transportation fees

SAC CITY, IOWA – AUGUST 16, 2010

Rabiner Ranch is a Juvenal detention facility located in the Manson North West Webster School district. For a variety of reasons, a student may be mandatorily compelled to attend the Rabiner Ranch instead of a normal school.

Two students, one who lives in the Sac School District and one who lives in the Wall lake View Auburn School district, but who attends school outside the districts were assigned by 2nd Judicial to Rabiner Ranch. Because of the way the bureaucracy governing this system works, Sac and WLVA have to pay Manson North West Webster for the tuition and transportation of these students. (Rabiner is in the Manson district, the students live in our district.

Due to their dissatisfaction with having no say or opportunity to be allowed to find competitive transportation both the Sac and WLVA districts have chosen to allow Rabiner Ranch or Manson North West Webster (whoever,)to sue the districts for transportation costs.

Both the former superintendent Barb Kruthoff and Sac School board President Shirley Phillips have attempted to communicate with multiple entities regarding this matter and have received no satisfaction.

The courts alone decide if the students will attend and the student’s home district has no say.

Following are the videos of August 16, 2010 Joint East Sac County School Board meeting at which this issue was discussed. It is within the context of the Sac and WLVA calls to order in which bills to be paid are approved.
