Betty Drey, age 64, of Early, Iowa died June 29, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Betty Ann Grieme was born on May 13, 1946, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Reinhardt and Helen (Holtz) Grieme. She was baptized on June 2, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva and later confirmed on April 10, 1960 by Reverend Fred Elze.

Betty attended Galva Public School, graduating in 1964. Following her graduation, she enrolled at the University of South Dakota, where she received a Secretary Degree. Prior to her marriage, Betty worked at City Hall in Sioux City as a secretary.

On November 25, 1967, Betty married Ron Drey, the love of her life, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Schaller. They were blessed with two children: Lance and Lisa. The family made their home in Early. Betty was employed at numerous businesses over the years including: Early Savings Bank, Iowa Automatic Gas, Early Builders and Farm Service Co-op. The last three years, Betty spent teaching as an Instructional Teaching Assistant at the Storm Lake School District.

Over the years, Betty was active in the community and a devoted church member, where she held numerous offices. She was a member of the Women’s Club, Early Focus and was currently serving as the Financial Secretary of the Faith Lutheran Church in Early. Her hobbies included: traveling, golfing and walking. More than anything, Betty loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her husband, of over 42 years, Ron Drey of Early, Iowa; her son, Lance Drey and his wife, Diane of Clive, Iowa; son-in-law, Rick Mandernach of Storm Lake, Iowa; four grandchildren: Zack and Zoe Drey and Preston and Rebecca Mandernach; sister, Jean Jensen and husband, Jerry of Aurelia, Iowa; extended family and many friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lisa Mandernach; brother and sister-in-law, Burdette & Ardie Grieme.
