Passed Away - Glenola Bond




Glenola Bond, age 92, of Round Rock, Texas, and formerly of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Hearthstone Health Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove. The family will greet friends at the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.

Born August 4, 1917, in Ida County, Iowa, Glenola Rosamond Bond was the daughter of John and Maude (Greenwood) Ellis. She grew up and attended country school in Ida County.

On November 21, 1933, Glenola was united in marriage to Gerald Bond on the family farm. The couple lived in Ida Grove for many years before moving to Colorado and Storm Lake. In 1999, Glenola made her home in Texas.

In earlier years, Glenola was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. She belonged to Logan Homemakers and loved a good game of cards. Glenola enjoyed working at J.C. Penney Company in Ida Grove and in Longmont, Colorado, as head cashier and later in the catalog department.

She is survived by a son, Lyle (Denise) Bond of Round Rock, TX; two grandchildren, Bret Bond of Austin, TX, and Sara Edgington of Round Rock, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Travis (Nicole) Edgington and Tyler Edgington, all of Round Rock, TX.

Preceding her in death were her husband Gerald in 1990, and her parents.
