Visitation: 9:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the memorial service June 26, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Sac City.
Interment: June 26, 2010 at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City.
Dr. Ralph J. Zolnosky, age 94, of Sac City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Ralph John Zolnosky was born on May 19, 1916 to parents Allen R. and Hilda (Hammond) Zolnosky in Lesterville, SD. As a child he moved with
his family to Webster City, IA where he attended elementary school and graduated high school with the Webster City High class of 1934. He went
on to further his education at the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago, IL, graduating with honors in 1941. Ralph served his country after his
education, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942, working at the Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, CO, and the Medical Department 164th General
Hospital in Normandy, France. He was honorably discharged in January 1946.
Ralph was united in marriage to Ardys B. Isvik on January 10, 1943 in Denver, CO. This union was blessed with four children: Marcia, Alan, Julie,
and Gary. They were active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City where Ralph served as a deacon and trustee. He worked to
provide for his family as an optometrist until his retirement in 1978. He had many hobbies outside of his work, which included photography, clock
building, traveling, kite making and golf. Ralph and Ardys were grateful to have enjoyed 67 years of marriage and were active in many civic,
church, school, recreational and social functions. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be truly missed
by those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife Ardys; children: Marcia (Paul) Luke of Platte City, MO, Alan (Marie) Zolnosky of
Victoria, TX, Julie (Doug) Walrod of Sewickley, PA, and Gary (Sherry) Zolnosky of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren: Wendy (Don) Roach of
Craig, CO, Aaron (Trisha) Puck of Beebe, AR, Kristin Walrod of Sewickley, PA, and Zachary Zolnosky of Evanston, WY; great-grandchildren:
Matthew Roach of Liberty, MO and Tyler and Benjamin Roach of Craig, CO; brothers: Richard (D) Zolnosky of Norfolk, NE and Mike (Linda)
Zolnosky of Sturgeon, WI; extended family members; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Zolnosky; sisters: Marilyn Daggett and Deloris Wilhelm; and grandson Nicholas
Zolnosky.
