VIDEO – Lake View City Council discusses Camp VanMeveren Sewer proposal

April 19,2010 – Lake View, IA

What’s the normal fee to hook up?
The whole project comes to 70K.
How many trailers are there?
Do you want to tie up the city’s money for ten years for a private source?
We don’t want any green water.
There’s ways to work through this if you don’t feel that we have the cash.
He wouldn’t get the same interest rate.
We get first lien if this goes belly up.
The DNR would have the stringent timeline.

When do we annex the property?
They already receive all of the services.
This is why we want a non-clog instead of a grinder pump station.
In order to get that DNR permit, they’re going to have to get and engineer.
Hopefully this is our last upgrade.
Everything is just about tweaked to the max.
What happens when they abandon the septic tanks?
What is our half?
Their sewer has always got issues.
If that’s a deal breaker, then we at least need to give Scott some guidance.
Mike would like for the city to finance that.
What can we borrow the money at?
Most people don’t want this.
In the end the lake affects everybody.

We probably would look at this as a special assessment.
What’s the line of demarcation in that situation? What if 40 individuals have a sewer problem?
It will be dedicated to the public.
This will be different than Dixieland.
We need to have a stipulation that they can’t build so close together.
There’s no option to shut it down.
We still get infiltration during the winter time.
