Lori Harms, age 46, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Carroll, Iowa.


Lori Ann Harms was born February 10, 1964, in Perry, IA, to parents Jerry Harms and Dee Ann (Rath) Nissen. She grew up in the Sac City area, attending elementary school at East School in Storm Lake, IA, and graduating from Sac City High School. She went on to receive her Certified Nurses Assistant certificate at DMACC in Ankeny, IA.


Lori had three beloved children: Shauna, Samantha, and Garrett. She enjoyed anything outdoors including sunbathing, and fishing. She also enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed the late nights spent eating ice cream with her daughters. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.


Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Shauna (Andy) McGowan of Carroll, IA, Samantha Harms of Carroll, IA, Garrett Harms of Iowa City, IA; grandchildren: Shane, Sunny, and Mickey McGowan, and Harley Harms all of Carroll, IA; parents: Jerry Harms of Sac City, IA, and Dee Ann Nissen of Dallas Center, IA; sister Megan Nissen; brother Doug Harms of Sac City, IA; and extended family members.


She was preceded in death by her brother Shane Harms and her grandmother Dorothy Jarvis.

  1. As troubled as her life was, she had a lot of good in her too. I met her when I was 15 or 16, and I will miss seeing her around. I pray she has found the peace she was yearning for. My heart goes out to her family, especially her father. I know it is a hard time for them right now.
