East Sac County Basic Reading Inventory Scores


The following data was presented to the WLVA and Sac School Boards on October 19, 2009. It is a snapshot of East Sac County Student reading skills, or an Inventory of the basic reading skill of the 9th through 11th graders.




Fluency



9th Grade Students



Advanced 75th percentile or above (134 words per minute or more): 58% or 33 students



Proficient 50th-74th percentile (113-133 words per minute): 19% or 11 students



Needs intervention 25th-49th percentile (85-112 words per minute: 12% or 7 students



Needs substantial Intervention 0-24th percentile (84 or less words per minute: 11% or 7 students





10th Grade Students

Advanced 75th percentile or above (134 words per minute or more): 58% or 48 students



Proficient 50th-74th percentile (113-133 words per minute): 30% or 24 students



Needs intervention 25th-49th percentile (85-112 words per minute: 6% or 5 students



Needs substantial Intervention 0-24th percentile (84 or less words per minute: 5% or 4 students





11th Grade Students

Advanced 75th percentile or above (134 words per minute or more): 47% or 35 students



Proficient 50th-74th percentile (113-133 words per minute): 31% or 23 students



Needs intervention 25th-49th percentile (85-112 words per minute: 12% or 9 students



Needs substantial Intervention 0-24th percentile (84 or less words per minute: 11% or 8 students





BRI Comprehension



10 questions are orally asked about the passage the student has just read:

• 6 fact questions

• 1 thematic question

• 1 inference question

• 1 evaluative question

• 1 vocabulary question
