Sandy (Higgins) Courter, age 57, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011, surrounded by her family at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Sandy was born on September 22, 1954, in Sac City the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Bundt) Higgins. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. Sandy attended grade school in Wall Lake and graduated from Sac City High School in 1972.

On August 25, 2003, Sandy was united in marriage to John Courter in Las Vegas, NV. Sandy had worked at the Howard Center in Sac City until her health forced her to quit. She loved to go fishing and camping and left many happy memories with her family to cherish. In her own words, “I am leaving you with many memories. Put a smile on your face today and remember the good times. I thank God for being a part of your life. I have been so blessed with family and friends. I am now in very good hands with God and have been reunited with family and friends that I have missed. My final words are that I Love You All and don’t worry about me as I am with God and in a better place.” She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her parents, Bob and Shirley Higgins of Sac City; husband John of Sac City; daughters Amber (Kevin) Christ of Omaha, NE and Kristi (D. J. Lewis) Terpstra of Omaha, NE; son Mike (Michelle) Auen of Sac City; step-daughter Shelly Courter of Phoenix, AZ; step-son Trent (Miranda) Courter of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Cooper, Carson, Malia, Jordan, Jaelyn, Jenna, Jackson, Drake, Aryana, Silver, TJ, Sonya and Julie; sister Leann Morris of Greenville, MI; many extended family members; and a host of friends.

Sandy was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Blum; grandparents Earl and Edna Bundt and Sylvia Tebben; nephew Brandon Blum; and brother Richard Higgins.
