Marie Dick Longman, age 94, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.
Marie was born to Elizabeth Hay Dick and Joseph Louis Dick on February 28, 1917, in Early, IA. She was baptized in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and attended the Sacred Heart School graduating in 1934. She then attended the “Carr Beauty School of Cosmetology” in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in February 1935.
She spent most of her life owning and operating the Naturelle Beauty Salon in Sac City, which she purchased in 1940. Besides working at the salon she assisted at nursing homes and for the deceased at the funeral homes for; A. G. Neal-Huffman and Kruthoff and for Farber & Otteman in Sac City. On March 27, 1945, she married Glen R. Longman which ended in divorce in 1958.
Marie worked until she retired in 1995. She belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Guild in Sac City. Then she transferred her membership to Sacred Heart Church in Early, IA in 2000.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth Hay Dick and Joseph Louis Dick; one sister Frances Dick Drake of Sioux City and one brother Paul Louis Dick of Early. She is survived by many cousins and many friends.
