Wall Lake City Council on board with improvements to the city library

WALL LAKE, IOWA – MARCH 28, 2011
A representative of the library board appeared before the Wall Lake City Council on March 28, 2011 to talk about changes they wish to make to the basement, and to ask for an increase in their budget.

Right now, the basement of the library has a dividing wall. What the library board proposes doing is removing that divider so that they can begin to utilize that space for their own functions, and to possibly also allow other community organizations to meet in that space.

So far, the board has come up with half of the $10,900 that is needed to complete this project. They also hope to utilize money from the Wilma Gosch trust. Along with a $500.00 increase in their yearly budget, the board would like the city to give them a letter of support for the shelter project, supply the city employee’s expertise in installing the lighting, and for city employees to help determine where the water leak in the basement is coming from.

As mentioned, they also appeared to ask for an increase of $500 in the budget from $16,500 to $17,000.

The council approved the letter of support, the budget increase, the city employee’s requested role in installation of the electrical system, and the city employees role in tracking down the water leak.
