Rita L. Tiefenthaler, age 85, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Buena Vista Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Rita was born in Odebolt on June 8, 1925, to parents John and Nettie (Albers) Bengford. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1943. Rita married Marvin Tiefenthaler on February 19, 1946, in Schaller, Iowa and they were blessed with ten children: Marcia, Jim, Roger, Ruth, Peg, Marla, Mary, Carol, Tim and Lisa.
Rita devoted her life to her family and was a loving wife, mother, and great-grandmother. She always welcomed guests to her home and had the ability to make them feel welcomed and loved. Rita’s life evolved around her family. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Marvin of Early; children: Marcia Jurgens of Anza, California, Jim (Dianne) Tiefenthaler of Early, Roger (Stacey) Tiefenthaler of Early, Ruth (Jeff) Frederickson of Storm Lake, Peg (Brad) Petersen of Early, Marla (Paul) Voelker of Mitchell, South Dakota, Mary (Tom) Brown of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, Carol (Larry) Garrison of Alta, Tim (Angie) Tiefenthaler of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lisa (John) Peterson of Sioux City. Rita has 36 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Raymond Bengford of Deloit and sister Eileen (Lou) Cass of Dunlap; and many extended family members.
Rita was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Gina Jurgens and Nicole Garrison; parents John and Nettie Bengford; and brothers Leo, Joe, Lawrence and Ed Bengford; and sisters Marie Pollien and Allie Bernhardt.
