Sac County Supervisors authorize Sac County Sheriff’s participation in new drug task force
SAC CITY, IOWA – FEBRUARY 15, 2011
Several years ago the Sac County Sheriff’s Department was a member of the Region 5 Drug Task Force out of Fort Dodge. According to Sheriff Ken McClure, that task force has resolved and a new task force named the Western Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (WINETF) is being put together. This task force will include the city police departments of Denison, Harlan, and Carroll and the sheriff’s departments of Crawford, Shelby, Audubon, Monona, Carroll, Sac and Ida counties.
The WINETF will offer mutual aid in drug investigations ad enforcement operations and will help offset or share the cost of large investigations by allowing the departments to draw personnel from other departments and minimize the cost of overtime in any single department.
According to McClure, the WINETF was put together in November 2010.
The Sac County Supervisors, assured of the soundness of the following agreement by County Attorney Ben Smith, signed on without further discussion.
