Edna Kuehl, age 96, of Lake View, Iowa, and formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Black Hawk Care Center in Lake View.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Graceland Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Born November 24, 1914, in Ida County, Iowa, Edna Marie Kuehl was the daughter of John and Mary (Barnes) Hein. She grew up in the Schleswig area where she attended country school.
On February 10, 1932, Edna was united in marriage to Julius Kuehl in Schleswig. The couple lived in the Schleswig area until 1955, then moved to Sioux City. Edna was employed at the Zenith plant in Sioux City for many years. In 2006, she made her home at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.
Edna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and tending her flowers. She was a wonderful cook and took great pride in keeping an immaculate home.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Kathy Kuehl of Sac City; nine grandchildren, Rick and Gary Wiebers, Randy Kuehl, Kandi Kolpin, Kelli Elliott, Tracy Kuehl, Vicki Bertrand, and Mike and Chad Kuehl; 31 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; two sons, Virgil and Merle Kuehl; a daughter, Elaine Wiebers; a grandson, Ron Wiebers; two brothers, Harvey and Arnold Hein; and three sisters, Dorothy Boger, Lorraine Stewart, and Arvilla Pfleeger.
