Supervisors hold off signing preconstruction agreement with DOT
SAC CITY, IOWA – AUGUST 31, 2010
The Sac County Supervisors decided to hold off signing the Highway 20 relocation preconstruction agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation. It is hoped that not signing this agreement will give them leverage in dealing with grades that they feel are too steep where existing roads will connect with the new highway. They also hope to keep important farm to market roads open as much a possible. As it reads now, there is a possibility the critical roads will be closed for two full seasons.
Also in contention is the concept that the county taxpayers will be responsible for the costs associated with all detours.
