Irene Anna Olson, age 97, of Manning, Iowa, formerly of Carnarvon, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Manning Regional Healthcare Center.
Irene Anna Pfannkuch, daughter of Frank and Emma (Voege) Pfannkuch, was born on August 24, 1913 in Crawford County, Iowa, near Wall Lake. She was baptized and confirmed at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Breda and member of Emmanuel Presbyterian in Carnarvon. Irene attended rural country school near Wall Lake.
On December 20, 1938, Irene was united in marriage with Clifford Olson at Wheatland Presbyterian Parsonage. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Boyer area in Crawford County and Wall Lake, and Carnarvon area in Sac County. Irene was a housewife and mother to their three children, Karen, Earlene and Clifford Jr. She was a wonderful cook and baker, delighting her family with her homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and cookies, especially chocolate chip. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her children Karen Casey and husband Dennis of Rockwell City, Earlene Frisbie of Wall Lake, and Clifford Olson, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Moville; five granddaughters: Trisha (Bryce) Sellers, Shonda (Keith) Tranel, Shelly (Brian) Shearan, Tanya (Chris) Johnson, and Amanda Frisbie; four grandsons: Tony, Jeff, and Adam Olson and Chris Frisbie; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan Bourque and Carma Johnson, Chloe and Emily Shearan, MacKenzie Olson, Brooke Olson, and Kooper Tranel. Other survivors include her brothers Earl Pfannkuch of Manning and Donald (Kay) Pfannkuch of Manning; sister-in-law Bernice Pfannkuch of Manilla; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifford; four brothers: Frances (in infancy), Ludwig, Marvin (Viola) and Kenneth (Lucille); sister Edna (Jack) Ramsey; sister-in-law: Lorene, Pfannkuch; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Elmer and Louise Olson; and son-in-law Jerry Frisbie.
