Early, Iowa residents address Early City Council with complaints about noise and public urination at local bar
EARLY, IOWA – SEPTEMBER 3, 2010
Joan Zubradt, a resident of Early, Iowa and neighbor to Willoughby’s bar appeared before the Early city council to complain about noise from live music, and bar patrons from that venue urinating within view of her kitchen window. According to Zubradt the noise has become especially pronounced in 2010. She did not indicate for how long the public urination has been taking place.
During the process of questioning Zubradt, it was determined that the noise is only unacceptable when the back door is open.
As a starting place, the council decided to provide both Zubradt and the owners of Willoughby’s copies of the Early, Iowa noise ordinance to get everyone on the same page. Mayor Richard Snyder gave Zubradt his personal cell phone number and invited her call him during those moments when the noise is an issue so that he can come assess the situation personally.
Later on that evening the council made it clear that they support Willoughby’s and Early, Iowa businesses in general, saying that having streets packed with cars, one of Ms. Zubradt minor complaints from earlier in the meeting, is a good problem to have.
