Passed Away - Dorothy Kruskop






Dorothy Kruskop, age 81, of Sac City, Iowa, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sac City, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend John J. McGuirk will officiate, with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City. Friends may call at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

Born May 2, 1929, in Fonda, Iowa, Dorothy Ann Kruskop was the daughter of John and Margaret (McCafferty) Mullen. She grew up in Fonda where she graduated from Our Lady of Good Council Catholic School in 1947. She then attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska, and returned to Fonda to work as a bookkeeper at the McCreery car dealership until her marriage.

On July 6, 1953, Dorothy married Delmar Kruskop in Fonda. The couple made their home on a farm north of Lytton, Iowa, where they raised their three children, Eugene, Cynthia, and Steven. Dorothy returned to the workforce as a bookkeeper at the Lytton Creamery (later AMPI) until its closing, then was employed at the Sac Sun until retiring.

After Delmar's death in 1981, Dorothy moved to Sac City. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and several area card clubs. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Fulcher of Lytton; four grandchildren, Shanda, Justin, Jennifer, and Alyssa; three great-grandchildren, Triniti, Taylor, and Jordyn;a brother, Thomas B. (Joan) Mullen of Lakewood, CO; three nieces; and two nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Eugene; and her parents.
