Dear I hope your happy,
Sac City Iowa isn't going to ever match your memories. Those days are just plain over and done.
The longer you tell yourself that you are doing good while in reality you are standing in the way, the worse you will be judged when the history books are written.
You and people like you failed to recognize when it was time to let go. You want to blame the "young" people for voting away our school but what you fail to recognize is that people with families that don't want to open enroll all the way to Newell, Schaller, Odebolt, or Lake City have actually voted to strengthen the wasted wreck of our former school district in an alliance with your (not our) hated enemy, WLVA.
We are doing the opposite of "ruining" Sac City and we are NOT short sighted. This school will strengthen the whole region, including Sac City.
Curtis
PS. Answer to your PS: Why did you even write in then? I've honored your request cause that's the kind of guy I am, but seriously... grow a pair.

Would love to see this letter....
ReplyDeleteThey did not want it printed because they thought people would recognize their style of writing and there's apparently some sort of "Don't humor Curtis" group out there that would look down on them socially if they were caught writing in. (LOL this town) This was actually somewhat OK with me, because I would have had to chop it apart due to the naming of specific non-public people.
ReplyDeleteProblem is, it was anonymous and I was kind of itching to answer it.
It started out just critical of me, "You should be ashamed of yourself" style but degenerated into a diatribe against the people that voted for consolidation because they are too young and don't have enough wisdom realize what they are doing blah blah blah.
If the author of this letter wants to write in to thesacnews@yahoo.com, and explain your point of view in an intelligible way, I would love to write the story about why people like you think this way. It would be a listing of your bulletin points without any commentary by me, and I would keep your name anonymous. In fact, if you are really freaked out about it, you could set up an anonymous email with yahoo or something and then even I wouldn’t know who you are.
Just putting the offer out there. You guys have to get this stuff off your chest at some point, and you never know… maybe you’ll change some minds.
