Minutes of the April 19, 2011 Sac County Supervisors meeting

The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jack Bensley, Chairman presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted. It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to abate the second half taxes on a mobile home which was removed from the Van Mevern trailer park on October 16, 2010 in the amount of $37.00 and the full year taxes on a mobile home in the Dixieland Trailer Park, which had been taxed as real estate and as a mobile home in the amount of $148.00. Ayes all, motion carried.

Sac County Attorney Ben Smith presented a request to the Board of Supervisors to terminate a 28E agreement between Sac, Carroll and Calhoun Counties to provide a part-time county attorney service to the three counties. A motion by Supervisor Stock to terminate the agreement died for lack of a second.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve the claims as listed on the claims register in the Auditor’s office. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve the drainage claims as submitted. Ayes all, motion carried. It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve a request from Chamber Main Street to support a detour on county roads for the Independence Day parade scheduled for July 2, 2011, and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter to the Iowa Dept. of Transportation supporting the detour. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to pledge $5,000.00 from the County’s Special Project fund for Sac City’s North 5th Street beautification project. Ayes all, motion carried. It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to set a public hearing for Tuesday, May 24, 2011, to consider an amendment to the 2010/11 county budget. Ayes all, motion carried.

Midwest Fence and Gate Company from Fort Dodge, Iowa submitted two quotes for replacing the fence around the exercise yard at the Sac County jail. No action was taken until such time as the county auditor can contact the insurance company.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to commend and thank the Sac County Secondary Roads, Sac County Sheriff’s Department and all private citizens who donated their time and equipment to help in the cleanup effort after the tornados of April 9, 2011. Ayes all, motion carried.

Greg Villages with Kuehl and Payer presented a review of the storm damage debris left in the open ditches of DD 16,30 and 92 and DD 19 and 26, and possible means to remove the debris. Mr. Villages and the Supervisors discussed progress on DD 2 and 51 regarding the wetlands determination through the NRCS.

With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
