Ronald Eugene Willert, age 67, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at his residence in Sac City.

Ron was born on August 21, 1943, to Harvey and Eloise (Hasch) Willert in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on a farm south of Sac City. He attended Coon Valley Country School #3 and graduated from Sac Community High School with the class of 1962. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed his faith on March 30, 1958.

Following graduation, Ron was inducted into the United States Army in May of 1964, serving a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged May 5, 1967.

He returned to Sac City and started working for Farm Service/Star Energy in 1973 working in the fertilizer department and delivering propane. He retired in December of 2009. Ron enjoyed spending time with his sisters and their families. His hobbies included hunting, woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the Sac City V.F.W. Post No. 590 and American Legion Cantigny Post No. 195.

Survivors include his step-mother Anne Willert and her family; sisters: Judy Kruckenberg and husband Larry of Lytton and Joan Stone and husband Jack of Sac City; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew Robert Kruckenberg and great-nephew Harrison Stone Morris.
