Iowa State Patrol investigating double fatality accident West of Holstein

According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report, a vehicle driven by Lori Sokolwsk 55 of Holstein and also occupied by Maria Pencook, 28 of Albert City slid into the path of a vehicle driven by Deron Schmidt, 48 of Battle Creek resulting in a collision.
The collision which occurred on March 7, 2011 at 7:53AM, resulted in the fatalities of both Sokolowski and Pencook, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Schmidt was injured and was transported to Horn Memorial Hospital by Holstein Ambulance.
The Ida County Sheriff's Department is assisting The Iowa State Patrol in the investigation.
