What the Sac City needs more than anything else is higher paid department heads

In a year when other government agencies are trying to maximize their budgets, Jim Johnston, Gary Hansen, and Bill Brenny decided that more than anything else, what Sac City, Iowa needs right now are higher paid city department heads.

Magically, the raises were already built into the budget. The most telling portion of this discussion that indicates to me this was a done deal before it even came up in public is when Jim Johnston said, “We’re just delaying it is all we are doing.”

…and Mayor Powell wonders why nobody shows up for her meetings. The answer, Ms. Powell, is that the people know that they have no hope of influencing any decision on the table because council people like Johnston, Hansen and Brenny will ensure that the will of the few are exercised over the will of the many...

…every single time.
