Bertha Marie Lampe, age 98, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Bertha was born on June 7, 1912, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of William Carl and Agnes (Frisbee) Steininger. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur and attended St. Augustine Catholic School. She met and fell in love with Clarence Lampe and they were married on April 21, 1931 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Clifford, LeRoy, LaVon, Morris and Janice. They farmed in the Arcadia area before moving to Wisconsin in 1958 to farm. In 1973 they returned to Iowa and enjoyed their retirement.

Bertha was a loving and devoted wife and mother who cared for her family, and enjoyed the farm life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. She enjoyed playing cards and crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: Clifford Lampe of Lakeport, CA, and LeRoy (Mary) Lampe of Omaha, NE; daughters: LaVon Wilkens of Sac City and Janice (Terry) Richards of Nixa, MO; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; brother Lloyd Steininger of Rockport, IL; sister Viola Spieker of Manning, IA; and many extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; son Morris; daughter-in-law Marilyn Lampe; and son-in-law Donald Wilkens.
