Verdeen Eldon Boisen, 82, formerly of Early, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, after a brief illness.

Verdeen was born December 26, 1927 in Logan Township in Ida County, Iowa, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Reineke) Boisen. He attended Early Consolidated School.

On June 18, 1961, Verdeen was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Harman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, Iowa. Verdeen and Ruth farmed in the Early/Schaller area until they retired in 1991 and moved to Early.

Verdeen and Ruth loved woodworking and crafts. They enjoyed going to toy and craft shows and made many friends during those years. Verdeen was a perfectionist and meticulous with his work. His wood trucks and cars went to several areas around the United States.

Survivors include his two sons: Terry Boisen and his wife Robin of Cherokee and Martin Boisen of Blue Springs, MO; grandsons: Eric, Aaron, Jake, Connor and Kyle; brothers: Paul Boisen and wife Sharon and Carroll Boisen and wife Pat all of Storm Lake; sisters: Alice Pinnekamp and Darlene Rasmussen of Schaller; sister-in-law Iva Boisen of Sac City; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Verdeen was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Ruth Ann; and brother Luvern “Hank” Boisen.
