Nadine F. Schuknecht, age 63, of Lake View, Iowa formerly of Sac City passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Nadine was born on July 12, 1947 to Eldred and Juanita (Schnell) Schuknecht in Sioux City, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, IA, and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. She attended Zion Lutheran School, Paullina, IA, through 6th grade, Sac Community School grades 6th and 7th, Crippled Children’s School in Iowa City 8th grade, and Crippled Children’s School, Jamestown, ND, grades 9th through 12th. She continued her education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, and graduated from NIACC with an AA degree on July 11, 1980.

Nadine loved working on her personal computer. She loved writing, music, playing cards (especially cribbage), playing scrabble and was an avid Hawkeye fan. She spent years writing her own autobiography. Nadine lived 10 years at Handicap Village in Clear Lake, then she fulfilled a life-long wish of independent living with 12 years in her own home in Sac City. She lived 12 years in various nursing homes, the last seven years at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View. She was known for speaking her mind and often granted herself a “Me day”, which was her way of saying “Please leave me alone”. She always looked forward to seeing her nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Juanita Schuknecht of Sac City; sister Rita Jenkins of Sac City; brother Lyle (Linda) Schuknecht of Lake View; nieces: Kristen (Ben) Mather and their children Dominic and Kenley of Cedar Falls; and Lisa Schuknecht of Sioux City; nephews: Lance (Christy) Jenkins of Davenport, IA, and Michael (Amber) Jenkins and their son Dayton of Sac City.

Nadine was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Fred and Anna Schuknecht; maternal grandparents Edward and Nellie Schnell; father Eldred Schuknecht; and brother-in-law Tony Jenkins
