Lake View City Council discontinues negotiations with Camp VanMeveren
LAKE VIEW, IOWA – JULY 19, 2010
The Lake View City Council has been in negotiations with Camp VanMeveren for the purpose of providing them with sanitary sewer service. The reason, (well, one of the many reasons,) they wish to provide this service is because of the ongoing effort to heighten Blackhawk Lake’s water quality.
In return for this service, the city was asking that Camp VanMeveren allow itself to be voluntarily annexed. With an apparent future eye on allowing the property to become subdivided and avoiding the complications of doing so while part of an incorporated area, the owners of Camp VanMeveren have been attempting to come up with a way to get sewer service without becoming annexed.
On July 19, 2010 it became apparent to the council that Camp VanMeveren is going to attempt to provide itself with sewer services in a manner that doesn’t utilize city services, and negotiations were formally discontinued by unanimous vote.
