Black Hawk Lake Restoration

REMINDER: The community meeting to review the findings of the Diagnostic Feasibility Study conducted on Black Hawk Lake is Tuesday evening, March 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 115 Second Street, in Lake View.

The agenda for the meeting is:

· Dr. John Downing from Iowa State University will review the results of the Diagnostic Feasibility Study and present a suite of restoration alternatives – 30-45 min.

· Don Herrig, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, will discuss potential fishery restoration alternatives to improve water quality (barrier & carp removal) – 5-10 min.

· Kathy Koskovich, a private lands biologist from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, will discuss future opportunities for landowners – 5-10 min.

· Tom Duncan from ISU Extension and Ben Wallace from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will discuss community based watershed planning & steering committee – 10-15 min.

· There will also be plenty of time to ask questions.

Maintaining a high-quality lake with good water quality is vital to the future of our community, and as the DNR has told us many times, successful lake restoration projects are driven locally! Please be informed and involved in the restoration of Black Hawk Lake. Everyone is encouraged to attend this informational meeting Tuesday evening, March 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church.

I know that many people are unable to attend a meeting during the week, so our community groups are planning another meeting on a spring weekend to recap the study findings. The date and time of this meeting will be announced later.
