Linna "Marie" Carroll, age 91, of Sac City, Iowa, and formerly of Wall Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City, Iowa. The Reverend Vicki Fisher will officiate, with burial to follow in Wall Lake Cemetery, Wall Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Born March 22, 1920, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Linna Marie Carroll was the daughter of Homer and Maude (Redman) Johnson. Marie grew up and received her education in Highlandville, Missouri.
In 1941, she was united in marriage to Keith Carroll. The couple lived for a time in Springfield, Missouri, then moved to Wall Lake, Iowa, where they raised their three sons, Leon, Jim, and Ron. Keith passed away in 1959, and Marie worked at various jobs to support her family. She loved to cook and play Bingo, and also enjoyed drives around the lake. In 1975, she became a resident of Park View Care Center in Sac City.
Survivors include two sons, Jim (Kathy) Carroll of Lake View, and Ron Carroll of Council Bluffs; a daughter-in-law, Delores Carroll of Sac City; four grandchildren, Heath, Shane, and Jesse Carroll, and Cori Jacobson; six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Kyle, Jacob, Kierstin, and Jordin Carroll, and Julia Jacobson; and a brother, Ruel Johnson of Yakima, WA.
In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Leon Eugene "Lefty" Carroll; two brothers, Ray and Clell Johnson; and two sisters, Faye Cloud and Chloe Aton.
