The East Sac Raider Middle School girls got a busy week off to a good start with a two wins on Monday over Alta-Aurelia on January 17, 2011. The 7th graders started the day with a 28-15 win and then the 8th graders followed up with a similar 29-17 victory as well.
Lexie Berry topped the East girls’ scoring with 14 points. Sydney Ernst added 6. Lexi Willson chipped in 4 more while Kendal Herrig and Ashton Blum capped off the win with 2 apiece. Willson and Berry each grabbed 8 boards to head that department. Blum got 4 more and Sam Nissen snagged 3 more to help out. Berry’s 6 steals capped off a nice game as she led in all departments.
The 8th grade followed up with an equally solid win of their own. Brooke Odendahl and Sydney Schwanz led the Raiders with their 8 points. Jordan Fischer contributed 7 more to the win while Ariana Batz tossed in 4 and Jaylynn Peters chipped in 2. Schwanz led the rebounding with her 9 caroms. Odendahl got 5 and Peters grabbed 4 for the Raiders. Schwanz led the steals with 4 along with 3 from Peters.
Weather permitting, the girls will travel to Odebolt on Tuesday in a rematch against OABCIG and will host Schleswig on Thursday at home.
