Cue the Music- I walk this empty street

This is so annoying! The street I live on (Oak Street) is horrible - as is south 9th street. There has been a huge crack in our street since we moved to town a few years ago. By filling the holes with gravel poses more problems since the gravel usually spreads everywhere after a few vehicles drive over it. Must just be a way of ignoring what our local government should be taking care of.
ReplyDeleteWith the money we pay our city staff we can not afford to fix our streets. And the benefits! How many of you get paid family insurance? I could go on all day.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how some of the folks in the peanut gallery at last week's CM that were bitchin' about the street conditions were the very same ones that were sitting on the council back at a time when at the very least, a yearly overlay or pea gravel seal coat, would have staved off what we're looking at now. They should look in the mirror before pointing fingers, this didn't happen overnight.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest issue is how is it going to be paid for???? They are talking millions of dollars to have them fixed correctly. They just spent 5 million on a sewer plant and collection system. The council needs to decide special assessment to the effected property owners or GO bond which means a higher tax levy to everyone. Which is the fairest? Might be a good poll question for you Curtis...... The streets need to be repaired one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteNo sweat. The poll that's up expires in a few hours. I'll think up something fun! :)
ReplyDeleteRemember when Figi & Duffy Hills(not to mention Losure St,Elm,and so on) were all gravel? Was hard on our sled runners and toboggans, elbows and knees. Love that sound of tires on a gravel road.
