A Storm Lake, Iowa man was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa after he was ejected from a car that rolled 7-miles south of Early, Iowa on Hwy 71 Sunday morning November 15, 2009.
According to Sheriff McClure, 25-year old Dararath Khiev of Storm Lake was an unrestrained front seat passenger in a 1999 Chevy Suburban which was being operated by 33-year old Jamie Cohoon also of Storm Lake.
Cohoon was traveling north on Hwy 71 at about 2:05AM when she swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. Cohoon lost control of the vehicle and entered the east ditch where it rolled several times. Khiev was ejected and received life threatening injuries. Khiev was transported to Loring Hospital and then airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Cohoon was charged by the Sheriff’s Office with not having a valid license and not having insurance.
Sac City Ambulance, Early Fire Rescue and the Lake View Police all responded and assisted at the scene.
