Wall Lake Pool House Project moves forward

WALL LAKE, IOWA – JUNE 13, 201

…Can this be done in time for the grant application for the new pool house?

… all of the bid forms, etc have to be available once the notice goes in the paper.

… The building will be partially funded by a Renze grant, but that deadline for that is coming up. The problem is that the State of Iowa Department of Public health is requiring that an engineer sign off on the design before the thing is built, but there isn’t enough time to get a solid bid for the Renze grant application if the city has to wait for an engineer to sign off before going out to get bids.

...in a follow up call placed on June 16, 2011 to the Wall Lake City Clerk’s office, TSN discovered that how this will be worked around by getting bids from the contractors on the current plans, and then an engineer will be hired to sign off on the plans. Any changes that need to take place will be handled as a change order after the fact.

…Public hearing to discuss the proposed pool building is officially opened via roll call.

QUESTION: Is the Renze grant the only grant the city is trying to get?
ANSWER: the city also applied for the bank Midwest grant, and a grant from the State of Iowa.

…the city decided to not attempt to get a Sac County Endowment grant.

… At the direction of the city attorney, the council goes back over the discussion that took place before the public hearing was opened to give the public the proper opportunity to freely discuss the issue.

… Council votes to adopt the current plans and specs for the pool house subject to the engineers approval.

…Council votes to post the notice in the Chronicle for taking bids until July 5, 12:00PM with an addition to the notice that the bidders me made aware that the final specs are subject to engineers approval.

…Public hearing for discussion about the pool house closed.
