Raider Girls Split to Wrap up Successful Campaign


The East Sac County Junior High Raiders finished their season on Thursday by splitting games with the Manson Northwest Webster Cougars at Lake View. The 7th graders played an exciting game with the Cougars but suffered their first loss of the season in overtime by a 38-35 score. The 8th graders put a cap on their season with a nice 23-14 win to end their season on a winning note.

The 7th grade found themselves leading by a couple then trailing by a couple most of the afternoon, but at the end of regulation, the score stayed tied and the Cougars were able to take the game in the OT.
Leading the way for East Sac was Lexie Berry with 11 points. Right behind her was Lexi Willson with 10. 8 by Bailey Jacobsen, and 6 by Sydney Ernst rounded out the scoring. Jacobsen’s 6 rebounds topped that category. She was given help by Willson and Berry who got 5 each. Berry had 6 steals to lead there, followed by 5 each from Ernst and Kendal Herrig.

The 8th grade game was close until halftime which saw the Raiders holding a 9-7 lead. In the third quarter, East stretched the lead a bit and then they were able to hold on for the win. Jaylynn Peters led the scoring with her 6 points. Ariana Batz and Nicole Huser each tossed in 5, followed by Sydeny Schwanz with 4, Ashlnn Jarvis with 2 and Brooke Odendahl with 1. Sydney Schwanz was leading rebounder with her 8 caroms. Jarvis and Odendahl each grabbed 6 while Peters had 4. Peters had 7 steals to lead the defense.



The Raiders end the season with a 7th grade record of 11-1 while the 8th graders raised the mark on their campaign to 10-2. Their coaches, Steve Trost and Chris Bass, along with all the girls, wish to thank the parents and any fans for all their support during the season.
