East Sac Girls Split with IKM-M



Two exciting contests saw East Sac County come away with a win and a loss on Thursday in Manilla. The 7th grade Raiders began the afternoon with their tough battle with IKM-Manning Wolves and were able to come away with a win by a 30-25 margin. The 8th grade game however, turned the Wolves’ way as they soundly defeated the Raiders by a 42-12 score.

In the opener, the Raider girls found themselves trailing in both the first and second quarters, but with some inspired play turned things around in the second half and were able to top IKM-M by 5. Lexie Berry led the scoring with her 15 points. Kendal Herrig chipped in 7 more for the Raiders and 2 apiece from Sydney Ernst, Bailey Jacobsen, Lexi Willson, and Ashton Blum rounded out the offense. Willson had 8 rebounds for the Raiders while Jacobsen had 4. Willson, Berry, and Blum had 9, 8, and 6 steals for the East girls in the win.

The Wolf defense was tough on the Raiders in the second game holding them to just 12 points. They were led by 6 from Sydney Schwanz, followed by 4 from Jordan Fischer, 2 from Ariana Batz. Leading rebounders were Jaylynn Peters, Brooke Odendahl, and Schwanz with and 4 each. Peters and Batz each had 5 steals.

The 7th graders are still undefeated at 8-0, while the 8th grade record drops to 6-2.
