…Lake View City Council approves canoe rental businesses use of city parking lot adjacent to lake


LAKE VIEW, IOWA – NOVEMBER 15, 2010

(City administrator’s instructions to the council)


1. Questions.
Q. Would you just do rentals or do you do educational programs?
A. Anticipates giving basic canoeing lessons.

Q. The rental unit will have a trailer of canoes by the lake. Will there be staff on hand?
A. If the interest warrants, there will be a person on hand, otherwise, there will be a sign with a number on it to call for assistance.

Q. How many canoes will be available for rent?
A. There will be two trailers, each carrying eight canoes.

Q. Do you have a specific location within the parking lot where the trailers might be parked?
A. Someplace close to the water so the canoes don’t have to be carried vary far, is open to council preference.
- City administrator prefers near pump house and Men’s Club bathroom.

Q. on what date would it begin?
A. When it is warm enough for people to want to go canoeing.

Q. How much insurance is required?
A. City administrator anticipates a minimum of $100K.
- Business owner claims to carry seasonal insurance of one million dollars.

Q. What will be the days of operation?
A. 7 days a week.
