George Crouse addresses the Lake View City Council

Following is the city administrator’s instructions to the council.

George Crouse conveyed to the council that the development group was hoping to have some of the property near Boulder’s Inn in lake View, Iowa sold by now… perhaps to a convenience store. Ideally, there would be a convenience store on the highway 71 side of the land to serve the needs of nearby Evapco. Mr. Crouse feels that it would also be an ideal location for a business center.
The problem is that the convenience store owners with which they have spoken claim that the spot is not close enough to the center of town and aren’t interested. As a result, the group will now be looking for more investors to cover the cost of the convention center and restaurant as it is approaching the cost of the hotel itself.

Mr. Crouse also made it clear to the council that they would welcome any help from the city.

The convention center will accommodate 400 people and can be divided into three separate rooms. The combination bar/restaurant will seat 208. There is a dock with two lifts for boat parking, and that may be expanded next year. parking is designed to allow a clear view of the lake at all ties, and there will be an enclosed walkway connecting the hotel and convention center.

If they have enough money to proceed they will begin building within the month with a tentative opening date of May 1, 2011.
