Ruth Lois Stevens, age 88, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.
Ruth was born July 13, 1921, in Sac County, Iowa, to her parents, Morris and Inez (Putnam) Stevens who preceded her in death. Also preceding
her in death were two brothers, Harold and Robert, and a sister Waunita, who were triplets, and sisters Ilene (Hubert) Zollman and Elva (Carl)
Schertz, and brother-in-law Wayne Weltzheimer.
Mourning Ruth’s death are her sister Helen Weltzheimer of Sac City; three nephews: Melvin (Alta) Zollman of Quimby, David (Lynne) Weltzheimer
of Manson, and Morris (Holly) Schertz of Roswell, NM; four nieces: Naomi (Merlyn) Witzke of Pennsylvania, Barb Johnson of Colorado, Collette
(Oliver) Herman of Rochester, Minnesota, and Lynnette (Roger) Radke of Le Mars, IA; many great nieces and great nephews; extended family
members; and many more friends.
Ruth attended Sac County rural schools, graduated from Sac City High School in 1938, and from Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois in 1947
with a B.A. degree, majoring in elementary education and philosophy-religion. She taught four years in Sac County rural schools and taught
elementary classes in Illinois, Kentucky, and Iowa. Twenty-four years of her teaching were done in third grade in Sac Community School. She
retired in 1986 after forty-two years of elementary teaching.
In her early youth, Ruth committed her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized and later became a member of the Sac City Free Methodist Church.
She served her Lord in various offices of the church such as, Sunday school teacher, Christian Education Director, church treasurer and
secretary. Ten years of her teaching was done in Kentucky Mountain Elementary Mission School at Oakdale, Kentucky from 1948-1958. She
was a long time member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Sac City Garden Club, and Christian Women’s Club.

Ruth Stevens, age 88, of Sac City died Sunday at Parkview Rehabilitation Center in Sac City.
