CALHOUN COUNTY DEATHS RULED DOUBLE HOMICIDE/SUICIDE

calhoun crime sceneCalhoun County, IOWA --- Autopsies performed on the bodies of three people, found inside a home in rural Calhoun County and a joint investigation by law enforcement show the manner of death for Paige Gallo and Heather Campbell is homicide. Both women died from gunshot wounds. Luke Schleisman also died of a gunshot wound and his manner of death has been ruled suicide.



On June 11, 2010, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was called to assist the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in a joint investigation after the bodies of Paige Gallo, 19, of Council Bluffs, Heather Campbell, age 20, of Urbandale and Luke Schleisman, also age 20, of Lake City, Iowa, were found.

Calhoun County Communications Center received a phone call on June 11, 2010, from Vicki Campbell, mother of Heather Campbell. Mrs. Campbell reported to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office that she received a voice message from Heather Campbell’s cell phone. The voice message recorded a verbal altercation followed by gunshots. Officers responding to the call located the residence at 1631 400th Street, in rural Calhoun County, found the three bodies.

The DCI Crime Scene Unit was requested to process the crime scene.

Autopsies were conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny, Iowa on June 12, 2010.

The weapon involved with the shootings was recovered at the scene. No other individuals are believed to be involved with the shootings.
