Visitation: Monday, 4-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 pm, March 15, 2010 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., March 16, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City.
Interment: Immediately following the service March 16, 2010 at Oakland Cemetery, Sac City.
Florence Anna Ohrtman, 85, of Sac City and formerly of Early, passed away on March 12, 2010, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Florence Webbink, daughter of Henry and Laura (Siefker) Webbink was born December 2, 1924, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She spent her childhood living by Plover, Iowa, along with her sister Lillian and brother Clarence.
On June 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Ohrtman at Emanuel St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Myron and Marie.
Florence graduated from Plover High School and went on to study at Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls. She later completed her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She taught at the Lytton School and later taught kindergarten at Crestland School and Schaller-Crestland Schools. She was a very devoted teacher, spending her summers off making new teaching materials for the next year. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sac City, where she taught Sunday school, led opening devotions and singing for Sunday school, sang in the church choir and belonged to LWML. Her hobbies included sewing and working with her husband, doing the staining and varnishing of his many wood projects. She cherished the time she spent with her family.
Florence is survived by her children: Myron (Ann) Ohrtman of Sioux City and Marie Hospelhorn of Sac City; grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Ohrtman, Lisa (Jeffrey) Junck, Scott (fiancé Melanie) Ohrtman, all of Sioux City, Heather (Marshall) Goslar of Mapleton, IA, and Brian (Melissa) Hospelhorn of Emmetsburg, IA; great-grandchildren: Zoie and Aiden Ohrtman, Kilie and Kaedy Junck, Sean, Kaitlyn and Bradley Goslar and Brooke and Bria Hospelhorn. She is also survived by her sister Lillian Hoover of Fort Dodge, and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; brother Clarence; and son-in-law Philip Hospelhorn.
