Family Center roof collapses at Sac County Fairgrounds
According to workers on the scene, on the morning of February 15, 2010 between 7:00AM and 7:30AM the roof of the building known as the "Family Center" on the Sac County Fairgrounds in Sac City, Iowa collapsed due to the excessive snow weight.
Several RVs, campers and boats were stored inside underneath the collapsed portion of the roof. When I arrived at 6:00PM an RV and a boat were pulled out from underneath the portion that had collapsed.
According to workers on the scene the damage depicted in these photos are far less dramatic then the reality of what they found when they first arrived several hours earlier and began clean-up efforts.
As this event has just occurred there is no dollar amount yet placed on the damage.
Some of the roof support appears to be resting on the top of a camper, and I was told that there might yet still be the danger of further collapse.
