Earleene Eugeena “Pat” Hammond, age 73, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Born in Sioux City, IA, to Beulah (Parker) Koster and Henry Koster, on August 2, 1938, and baptized in 1952 in Anthon, IA, at the Lutheran Church. She attended school in Anthon and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.

Pat was united in marriage to Norman William Hammond on December 13, 1954, in South Sioux City, NE. They were blessed with two daughters, Rebecca Mohr and Carol Allen. Pat worked in several restaurants and at Twilight Acres for 17 years as a cook. She retired in August of 2000. She enjoyed garage sales, cooking, birds and country music, watching Oprah and Tom Brokaw, and spoke often of President Kennedy, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent many years babysitting with her grandkids. Generations of grandkids fondly remember grandma sitting outside and playing in the sandbox with them. They were her life.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Hammond; daughters: Rebecca (Bob) Mohr of Wall Lake and Carol Allen of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Kris Miller and Jeremy Mason of Ida Grove, IA, Andrea (Nat) Halterman of Atlantic, IA, Ben (Amber) Allen of Ankeny, IA, Casey Allen of Storm Lake, IA, Cassidy Allen of Storm Lake, IA, Blake Mohr of Wall Lake, IA, and Jake Allen of Cedar Rapids, IA; great-grandchildren: Anthony Allen, Ethan and Edyn Halterman, Avery and Ayden Mason, and Manning and Rhett Allen. Other survivors include her sisters: Shirley (Ralph) Delambert of Eden, WY and Lois Koster of Storm Lake, IA; brothers: Fred (Rita) Koster of Monroe, WI and Henry “Sonny” Koster, Jr. of Storm Lake, IA; many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Koster; mother Beulah Koster; father-in-law William Hammond and mother-in-law Kathryn Hammond Chinn.
