Carol Priebnow, age 68, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Kiron Baptist Church in Kiron, Iowa, with Pastor Bruce Kaihoi officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held at the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Odebolt on Monday from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in North Carolina at a later date.
Carolyne Z. Priebnow was born May 13, 1942, in Wake County, North Carolina, to Emmett and Dessie Garner, and later adopted by Horace and Isabel (Wood) Ziglar. She grew up and received her education in North Carolina. Carol accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of sixteen.
In 1965, Carol came to Iowa, where she lived in the Sioux City area. On December 28, 1986, she married Richard Priebnow in Dillon, South Carolina. The couple made their home in LeMars, and Carol was employed at LeMars Mutual Insurance Company.
From 1993 until 2003, Carol and Dick lived in North Carolina, then moved to Odebolt, Iowa. They enjoyed wintering in Fulton, Texas for several years.
Carol was a faithful member of the Kiron Baptist Church. She enjoyed Christian Women's Club and studied her Bible regularly. Among her many hobbies were crafting of all kinds, sewing, fishing, and spending time with family.
Survivors include her husband Richard of Odebolt; three children, Eddie Raynor of Buies Creek, NC, Linda (Terry) West of Spring Lake, NC, and Laura (Greg) Pollak of Des Moines; two step-children, Kim (Joe) Fontenot of Marion, and Kodi (Jason) Lockey of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Jimmy (Jolen) Garner of Buies Creek, NC; and three sisters, Hilda Lloyd of Sioux City, Nancy Maddox of Buies Creek, NC, and Faye (Harlan) Grant of Fayetteville, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dolly Metaxakis; and a brother-in-law, Gary Lloyd.
