LAKE VIEW, IOWA – NOVEMBER 1, 2010
1. The Lake View city council is looking at what they can do for the second phase of streetscape.
- Sidewalks.
-- Some widening of sidewalks.
-- Handicapped accessibility.
- Street lighting from Main to Lake St.
-- Ten blue light fixtures, (for cost estimating purposes.)
- paving in some alleys.
- Some curb realignment.
- The deadline is December 10, 2010
--
2. Cost estimate.
- Per unit cost based on previous project.
3. If the council gives the go ahead on the cost estimate, they have to follow through with the work as agreed to in order to be eligible for the grant.
- The highest award seems to be about $15K.
- The amount of money that they have to award this year is down slightly.
4. Can we do half of this project?
- Do one side this year and one side next year.
- The only thing that might get in the way is how the street lights are wired.
-- Do sidewalks nee ripped up for this?
--- Do the sidewalks need replaced anyway?
---- The wiring could be put into place and then capped over until needed.
- There are problems with trees on the north side of the street.
-- There are four nice mature trees right in line with where the sidewalk would need to go.
5. Aren’t property owners responsible for paying for sidewalks?
- You have to break people’s arms to get them to agree to it.
