Lake View City Council calls for business plan from Community Club before helping fund a part time marketing position

LAKE VIEW, IOWA – NOVEMBER 15, 2010

(City administrator’s instructions to the council)


1. Council would like to see a business plan.
2. Would like to vote on who will be hired.
- Doesn’t want to hire the wrong person.
3. Is the city overstaffed, and could one of the city employees be used?
4. Foval-North feels this person will be what makes or breaks the success of the aggressive marketing program.
- The person hired might help define the role.
- Is skeptical of the amount of hours per week being discussed.
5. Sac City Chamber Mainstreet director’s salary is funded by community businesses.
- Their fund raising efforts are done to pay her.
-- The Community Club could utilize this example as a model.
6. If the person were a city employee and was paid $10.00 per hour, the total cost of the person would be $6,000 (wage + cost of having employee)
- “I certainly think we could find that money somewhere.”
- Marketing committee might have some ideas about this money as well.
7. This raises the value of the Community Club.
